When you type a query in the address bar, Google Chrome can automatically suggest websites and searches that are similar to what you're entering. For example, typing bbc in the address bar could bring up bbc.co.uk as a suggested site or [bbc news] and [bbc radio] as suggested searches.
You can change this setting from the Tools –> Options –> Under the Hood tab. Just deselect the "Use a suggestion service to help complete searches and URLs typed in the address bar" checkbox under the "Privacy" section.
